Man lay bleeding on the road for 90 minutes with no help after hit-and-run

Hundreds of people ignored a man as he lay dying on the side of the road after he was struck by a van in a hit-and-run in India.
The Scene
CCTV footage of the incident, which was originally released by the Times of India, shows the moment the victim, a security guard and rickshaw driver, was hit in New Delhi.

The driver then gets out to inspect his vehicle, then jumps back in and carries on.

The video then carries on as hundreds of drivers and pedestrians pass the man as he lays bleeding on the side of the road.

In one part of the clip a man bends down to pick up the victim’s phone from the side of the road, which he then steals.

It took more than an hour for the emergency services to reach the scene by which time it was too late.

He was dead on arrival at hospital.

A police spokesman told The Times of India: ‘The man was hit by a speeding tempo after which the driver fled the scene.

‘He had sustained critical injuries on his face and neck and was bleeding from forehead.

‘It is possible that the locals did not notice him or they may have taken him for a drunkard or a vagabond.’

It is believed the man, called Matibool, was working two jobs in India’s capital city to support family elsewhere in the country.
