Investing in the farming sector could reduce poverty in Africa - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on African Leaders to make farming more attractive and glamorous if the continent is serious about making the professional route to end poverty and reducing the migration to Europe.

He said, giving lands to young people and investing in a modern agriculture industry will lessen migration to other continents and helps selfguard against radicalization by militant group such as Boko Haram. 


The 79 year old added that the government must change perceptions of farming by promoting farming idles to rivals celebrity rappers. He said he believes agriculture can become a less volatile alternative to all revenues which accounts for about 70% of nigeria's national income.
